Relationship Map Filters

Relationship Map Filters

The relationship map feature has been improved to enable you to create different filters which can be applied to customise what is shown. This helps when you have complex product and component relationships which may cause the standard map to become very large.

Multiple filters can be created and selectively applied using the active filter drop down list:

The default filter is called “Standard”. To configure the filters, click on the “Configure Filters” button or click on the filter status strip:

The filter configuration dialog is similar to the view configuration dialog. You can use it to define multiple filters. New filters are created by cloning existing filters. To clone a filter, right-click on a filter and select “Clone”.

To delete a filter, right-click and select “Delete”:

Note that the “Standard” filter cannot be deleted.

To set the filter as the default (i.e. the one which will be automatically selected in the relationship map dialog), click the “Set As Default” menu option when right-clicking on a filter:

To rename a filter, select it and change the text in the “Filter Name” text box:

Filters are defined by combining individual attribute filters together. The attributes that can be used as part of a filter are grouped into categories in the left hand tree view.

In this example, we will create a new filter based on the attribute “Product Status” and configure it to include all product versions which have the status “End Of Life”. To do this, select the attribute from the left, change the filter condition to “Equals” and check the “End Of Life” value in the list:

Finally, click the “Add Filter” button to add the filter condition to the filter:

The filter condition can be easily removed by selecting it and click on the “Remove Filter” button:

When a filter condition has been added, a filter symbol will be shown next to the attribute in the tree list:

When multiple filters exist, they are shown in the filter condition list based on the scope of the selection in the attribute tree list. For instance, click on the “Product Version” node will show all filter conditions for all attributes in the “Product Version” group:

Filter conditions cannot be modified once they have been created – simply remove the condition and create another condition as required.

Close the dialog to exit the filter configurator. Select the filter you wish to apply to the current relationship map using the drop down list:

The filter status strip provides information on the current filter and will tell you how many items are being excluded by the active filter.

You can also pop the relationship map out into a separate window by clicking on the pop arrow icon:
