Component Library
The component library is the central storage repository where all components in all Bill of Materials (BOMs) are stored.
The component library is version controlled. When a change is made to a component attribute, a new version of that component is created. That means that all changes to any base, manufacturer or supplier component attributes are recorded and historicised.
When a change is made to a component in the component library, any BOMs which contain this component will be preserved and will not automatically inherit these changes. This ensures that a BOM is not inadvertently changed when a component is changed, preserving BOM integrity and traceability.
The component library always shows the most recent version of a component. Previous versions of a component can be viewed using the history navigator.
